The Steps We Take to Keep Clients Safe
Here are some of the ways that we keep our clients as safe as possible.
Client safety is of the utmost importance to us at the Upstate Home Team. We were not sure what that was going to look like at the start of COVID-19 in 2020; however, like everyone, we put a lot of safeguards into place to protect our clients and agents. Many of those safeguards are still in place today for the comfort of all parties as we remain sensitive to the feelings of everyone regarding masks, hand sanitizer, etc. We also have had practices in place for many years that we do every day to protect our clients...both sellers and buyers.
If you are a home seller, we act as a gateway for communication when it comes between other agents or buyers contacting you directly. This protects your time, your identity, and your property. Though it does not happen often, there are instances when people may call and pretend to be interested in your house just to "case the property" and see if it would be an easy target for robbery, etc. The way that we write the property description and showing instructions are all a part of the consideration to protect you and your home. The good news is that doesn’t happen a lot, and we do discuss protocols to guard against that when we first meet to list your home for sale. That is just one reason why we tell our clients to refer everyone to us for communication. We provide that barrier in case something like that does occur.
Another thing we do is install an electronic lockbox. It can only be opened by an agent via an app or secondary device so we know who was there, and often even how long they were there. If we ever need to follow up with someone after a showing because something goes missing, doors were left open, animals were let out, etc., we can do so. The way that we know who was at the property is through the installation of the electronic lockbox.
“We protect your financial security by negotiating the best deal possible."
We certainly protect your financial security. You’re expecting a certain price (whether selling or buying), so we want to make sure we understand your goals. There have been times where we have even had to protect our clients from themselves. Because most sellers and buyers are not skilled or practiced in negotiating real estate deals every day, it is very common to unwittingly say something that hurts their position during negotiations. This could lead to overpaying, or underselling. We make sure that doesn’t happen and that you are financially protected. It is our practice to understand your goals, and the reasons those goals are important to you, so that those goals become a reality.
We know that every real estate transaction will require other people to become involved in order to close the deal. Whether it’s an attorney, an inspector, a contractor, or an accountant, we have a list of vetted, licensed, and insured service providers to help you through the process. We trust these people because we have worked with them many times, and we are confident that they will do a great job for you.
These are just a few examples of how we work to protect our clients in every way throughout the process. If you have any questions about buying, selling, or real estate in general, don’t hesitate to reach out via phone or email. We look forward to hearing from you soon.
